Overview

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) is a job-oriented undergraduate programme. It is the process created by a therapist who works for people with functional disabilities. Client may be a newly born premature infant with developmental needs to geriatric needs.

Occupational Therapy provides an opportunity to integrate science and creativity in order to improve and enhance people’s lives and functions while preventing interruptions in their daily activities.

A candidate seeking admission in BOT has to register as per the notification prescribed by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The BOT programme aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become competent occupational therapists who can contribute to the healthcare industry and implement and assess interventions from the programme they have learned by promoting optimal bodily functioning and independence in individuals of all ages and abilities.

The curriculum includes both theoretical and practical components, providing students with hands-on experience in various clinical settings. Graduates of this programme can pursue careers in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools and community-based organizations, etc. Students will also have to gain hands-on experience in various clinical settings and have the opportunity to work in departmental placements.

Essential Qualification:

  • The student who passed 10+2 from PCB from Recognized Board with 40% aggregate Marks for OBC/ SC / ST or 45% for General.

 

Admission Criteria:

Clinical Occupational Therapist:

  • Occupational therapist work in Govt. and private major hospitals, clinics, day care centre, rehabilitation centre, NGO, special school, industries, normal schools, old age homes and OT educational institution

 

Academic Faculty:

  • As a teaching faculty in government/ private medical / paramedical college and in education institutions.
  • As a tutor for occupational therapy courses and lecturer with certified teaching experience in various govt/private institutes.

 

Initiation of Self-start-up:

  • Occupational therapist starts his/her own OT clinic/centre in various specializations such as paediatrics, neurology, orthopaedics, etc.

 

Research Work:

  • Able to do research in occupational therapy profession after completing his/her MOT/PhD in occupational therapy.
  • Many possibilities and job opportunities exist, when it comes to the field of Occupational Therapy. After graduation and getting a practice license, one may start working at Government or Private hospitals/clinics/community health centres.
